God Is In The TV - Reading & Leeds Festival Special 2013 August 2013 | Page 12
crystal
fighters
Crystal Fighters are the
perfect festival band.
If you see one act all
weekend make sure
it’s them. Their blend
of traditional Basque /
Indie / Dance and Rock
is completely unique. I
guarantee you will not
regret watching this band.
ones to
watch
the 1975
Probably the most hyped
new band of 2013 and I
think the attention is well
deserved. Brilliant, catchy
as hell pop-rock tunes
with a great groove. The
songs are as tight and on
the money live as they’ve
sounded all year on the
radio and you’ll have the
added bonus of being
one of the people who
saw the coolest band of
the moment play a tiny
tent before the inevitable
main stage slots.
fall out boy
A slightly weird choice
for me as I haven’t
always found Fall Out
Boy to be the best
sounding live band BUT
the new album is just
too good to not go and
sing along to. Also, a
high slot on the main
stage might mean they
have some production
with them and Fall Out
Boy do an over the top
stage show as well as
anyone I’ve seen.
BY JACK FAIRBROTHER/
alt-J
Another completely
unique band whose
album I fell in love with
this year. There’s a lot
of loud rock at Reading
and Leeds so if you fancy
something a little more
atmospheric and chilled I
reckon they’re the perfect
band. I think people in
bands and music geeks
in particular will enjoy
Alt-J. I’m imagining some
sort of beverage in one
hand, a friend, girlfriend/
boyfriend or complete
stranger on the other and
‘Dissolve Me’ being the
perfect soundtrack to the
whole messy event.
biffy clyro
I realised I was missing an
all out rock band for this
list and who better than
Biffy. I’ve seen them live
more times than I can
remember including 3
incredible performances
at previous Reading
festivals. The atmosphere
on Sunday night at the
main stage is always
amazing and I just can’t
imagine Biffy not putting
on an incredible show to
close the whole weekend.
Considering they’ve now
released 6 solid albums
the set list is surely going
to be anthem after
anthem. Mon the Biff!
‘natives’ guitarist Jack fairBrother Will also Be Paying a visit to this years’ reading
festival and he Was kind enough to let us knoW Which 5 Bands he definitely Won’t Be missing.’
