Welcome!

Dear Parents,

As you can see, we have begun a new, monthy school magazine! Each month, new content, updates, stories, and tips will be released in our school-wide newsourse. We will be asking for student, parent, and coach input. We are very excited for this first magazine issue with many more to come.

Thank you for your continued support of US Performance Academy. Reflecting on the past year, I am amazed by how much USPA has grown both academically and as a community. It has been a very exciting winter season and I want to share some insights from the past few months and offer some news about what is coming in the near future at USPA.

One of the highlights of this past winter has been receiving a text or email from a student telling me that an amazing training opportunity has just sprung up with a team or a coach in another state and they are either in the car already or just about to leave. As a past administrator, this would never have happened. There would have been emails, meetings, a plan for makeup work, and hopefully some sort of packet for missed work. Instead, we encourage them to take lots picture, keep up posted, and ask them how we can further support them on the road. I love the fact that the first reaction is not to panic. We simply adjust and connect upon our student’s return or set up a communication plan while they are training, depending on intensity. Whether it’s a trip to San Diego to paddle, Argentina for sailing, or visiting with Cirque du Soleil to study choreography. They are all adding to their story and creating experiences that they will remember the rest of their lives.

I would add our first all-school meeting as a close second. I’ve always appreciated the first time you introduce a group to each other. The sense of awkwardness and questions around your classmates that eventually gives way to conversations around athletics, funny comments from your administrators, or whether Kim, Pete, or Leann is the licensed pilot (Ask your son/daughter about the meeting.)The best part about these stories is that they are just the tip of the iceberg. Someone once said to me “the tip of an iceberg often looks like the rest of it.” If that’s the case, we are very excited to see what the next 12 months will bring.

Here are a few things that are currently happening at USPA:
