MATCHING: SEARCHING AND ACCEPTING YOUR INTERNSHIP: Once you pass your selection interview, sign your contracts and pay your fees, it’s time to get started on looking for an internship. In AIESEC, there are three stages you have to go through to go on your internship: Raising, Matching and Realizing.
1. Go to ‘AIESEC Programmes’, ‘Exchange Management’ and ‘Browse Internships’. 2. Don’t touch anything except ‘Committee: Show’. 3. Tick the county or countries that you are looking for internships in and tick every committee in that country. Go up to the top of the page and click ‘Search’. 4. You will have a list of internships in that country (or lack of, because that country has no internships). 5. If you want to see the details about an internship, click on its code (TN-In-PL-…), not the name. The name will give you information about the NGO or company with which this internship is. The TN code will give you a job description. 6. Browse through the internship to find a suitable one. Play around with the search settings, if you like. Just keep in mind that if you’re looking for an internship that starts in 6 months, you probably won’t find anything. They are usually put on the data base 2-3 months in advance, so be patient. 7. If you want more information about a project, you can contact the person in charge of the internship (their email should be on the form). Make sure you ask your EP manager how to do this first – maybe he or she will help you the first time. 8. Once you find something you like, don’t click ‘Apply’ or anything like that! You email the manager of the internship. Make sure you include your EP manager in the email, so they know what you’re up to. You can ask your EP manager to hsend this email for you if you like. 9. From then on, you should set up a Skype interview with the manager of the internship, and if they like you, they will accept you. 10. When they accept you, you must send them your Acceptance Note (AN), a copy of which you can get from your EP manager. 11. The internship manager must send you their AN within 10 days. 12. Once you have exchanged ANs, you are officially matched! Start preparing for departure!
REALIZING: GOING OVERSEAS
1. Ask your internship manager for assistance with visas/work permits/other documents you need to live and work in your destination country. 2. Book your flights only once you have received your visa successfully and are legally allowed to live and work in the country. 3. Research what immunizations you might need. Get these done ASAP, because some need to be done twice and things like that. 4. Go to AIESEC Outgoing Preparation Seminar (OPS), which will be organised before your departure to learn about things you might find useful during your internship. 5.
