Financial Aid Process

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid ( FAFSA ) at
fafsa . gov . Your 2019 Federal Taxes and financial information will be used to determine your eligibility for federal and institutional need-based aid for the 2021-2022 academic year .

GMercyU ’ s school code is 003270 . You will need this school code to send the results of your FAFSA to our financial aid office .
Need help ? Contact your Admissions Counselor or the Office of Financial Aid to schedule a time to meet with a qualified financial aid professional who can help you through the process – at no charge ! You may also call FAFSA directly at 800-433-3243 .
TIP
If you are not planning to complete the FAFSA , please let your Admissions Counselor know right away . You are required to complete the FAFSA Waiver Form found at
gmercyu . edu / admissions-aid / financial-aid-tuition / applications-forms and submit this to the Student Financial Aid Office . That way , we can complete your financial aid offer that includes your GMercyU Merit Scholarship and any other institutional aid for which you may qualify .

Be sure to regularly check the email address that you used on your FAFSA . If our Office of Financial Aid needs additional documentation in order to process your financial aid application , the request will be sent to the email address you provided on the FAFSA . The faster you provide the requested information , the sooner you will receive your financial aid offer !
Submit the FERPA Consent Form found on GMercyU ’ s website which gives us permission to speak with specific people regarding your financial aid . This is especially important if your parent or guardian will be helping to pay your college expenses .
FERPA ? What ’ s FERPA ? FERPA stands for Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act . Basically , it was established to protect your privacy . For more information , see page 8 .

Log into your Student Self-Service Portal to access and review your financial aid information . You will need to accept , modify , or decline your financial aid through Self-Service in order for it to be processed . For detailed instructions on how to review your financial aid offer via GMercyU ’ s Self-Service portal , go to page 12 .
TIP
Your financial aid cannot be disbursed until you have accepted your financial aid offer ! If you have questions about your financial aid offer , don ’ t hesitate to contact the Financial Aid Office .
Federal Direct Loan Recipients
If you are receiving Federal Direct Loans for the first time , you must complete entrance counseling and a loan agreement ( master promissory note ) which is found at
https :// studentaid . gov / before you can receive Federal Direct loan funds . It ’ s essential that you complete this step prior to your tuition bill payment deadline .
Anticipated Aid
Anticipated Aid is the amount of aid you should receive based on the results of your FAFSA . If your anticipated aid on your billing invoice does not match your offer letter or if a source of financial aid you are scheduled to receive is missing , please contact the Student Financial Aid Office at 215-646-7300 , ext . 21216 or
