GM & PRO DAY – GAILES
GOLF CLUB
More recently we headed
out to Gailes Golf Club for
our annual day with our
professionals hosted by
Frank McCarthy at Gailes Golf
Club. We also heard from the
PGA’s State Manager Broc
Greenhalgh who gave the
attendees a great insight into
the PGA and a number of
areas of their focus. We also
heard from Phil Laurie on
what MiClub are doing with
some great new developments
through their software to assist
clubs.
Gailes Golf Club
The golf course was presented
in great condition, and with
some testing wind proved
quite challenging for most of
the field. I enjoyed a game
with my professional Tony Di
Tommaso, Broc Greenhalgh
and also David Newbery. To be
honest it was something Tony
and I need to do more as it
was a great chance to discuss
a heap of things and we both
got a lot out of it. No doubt a
strong relationship with your
Professional is an important
element in a strong club and
something I will be working
harder on.
Professional Brad McLellan
from Twin Waters was the best
in the individual scores with
38 points off scratch. In the
team events it was Brad again
pairing up with Dave Marr
returning 42 points.

GMAQ MATCH PLAY
Due to the rained out event
at Byron Bay where we were
scheduled to hold two rounds
of the Match Play we will now
run out of time to contest
this event before the end of
the year. Consequently I have
made the decision to cancel it
and we will start it up again in
2018.
STATE TEAM SELECTION
With the GMA Conference just
around the corner now I have
selected our Queensland team
to defend the Jack Merrick
Trophy at Royal Adelaide. I am
pleased to announce the team

I will note that there were a
couple of deserving players
that missed out and the
team selection was based
on attendance at GMAQ
events, past performances at
Conference, and also more
recent form. I am sure each
team member will do the team
and their state proud by giving
it 100% on the day and prepare
well leading up to Adelaide.
