CAPTAIN’S REPORT MAY 2017
BY SCOTT WAGSTAFF
T
hank you to all of the
managers that have
attended one or more of
our events over the last three
months. In June we visited
Byron Bay which unfortunately
was a little moist. In July
we had a great day at The
Brisbane Golf Club with John
Deere and Chesterfield, and
then in August we went west
to Gailes with the annual GM
& Pro day. It’s certainly difficult
at times to take a day out of
work or from your family, but
we hope that the experiences
from our GMAQ events are
worth the investment of your
time.
BYRON BAY – WEEKEND
AWAY
Well our weekend away wasn’t
really to plan this year, with
torrential rain making the
stunning Byron Bay course
extremely wet and actually
Byron Bay
closed for the two days we
were there. The 24 attendees
including some partners were
set for a great weekend with
two games of golf lined up.
The “great” weekend was still
achieved even without a stroke
being made with the rain
barely stopping for the entire
time we were there. There may
have been a couple of drinks
consumed and some great
food from the club’s brand new
caterers 100 Mile Table who
had just opened for their first
day of trade at the club.
JOHN DEERE TEAMS
CHAMPIONSHIP – THE
BRISBANE GOLF CLUB
July saw the GMAQ move to
the host of the 2017 Isuzu
Queensland Open – The
Brisbane Golf Club for the John
Deere Teams Championship
qualifying event hosted
by Chesterfield Australia.
Thanks to the John Deere
and Chesterfield teams of
Rene, Harry and Noel we
experienced a fantastic day on
a great course.
I can safely say that without a
bad shot played, everyone had
a fantastic time and we made
the most of the situation.
Thanks to Wendy Perry and
her team for their hospitality.
Personally it was my first time
at the club and I can’t wait to
go back and have a game on
what looked like an amazing
golf course from the bar!
For me it was my first
experience on the “Champion”
greens and they were fantastic
to play on. The winning
team was no other than our
President’s from Nudgee.
The good news for them
is that they are now off to
New Zealand for the Trans
Tasman final in October at Gulf
Harbour staying in Auckland.
Thanks also to Geoff Keuhner
and Peter Collins from The
Brisbane Golf Club who hosted
a fantastic event.
