Ashgrove Golf Club, like many other golf clubs has been hit hard by the reducing number of golfing members. This came to a head in 2012 when a compulsory levy was imposed on all members to keep the doors open. The Board at the time scrutinised every area of operation to look for efficiencies and savings. It was at this time a formal volunteer program was implemented with members of the club generously giving up their time to assist with labour requirements both on the course and in the bar. The program is still in operation today and without the selfless efforts of these people, Ashgrove Golf Club would not be in existence. TELL US WHAT MAKES YOUR CLUB SPECIAL? Ashgrove Golf Club is located just 8kms from the city heart and is nestled in the picturesque Taylor Range. The course is situated on just 30 hectares of land, some of which is unsuitable 18 I WWW.GMA.ORG.AU for golf holes due to its undulating nature. Due to the relatively small parcel of land, the course is a par 67 comprising 7 par 3’s, 9 par 4’s and 2 par 5’s. With the knowledge that the golf course is never going to be of championship length, the clubs vision is to become the best ‘boutique’ golf course in Brisbane. WHAT PLANS DO YOU HAVE FOR THE FUTURE AND WHAT DO YOU EXPECT THESE PLANS TO BRING TO THE CLUB? Financial sustainability into the future to ensure the long-term viability of the Club is a key focus of the Board and management
