WHAT SIGNIFICANT EVENT HAS
SHAPED THE CLUBS DIRECTION OVER
THE PAST 20 YEARS? HOW DID THIS
IMPACT YOUR CLUB?
Ashgrove Golf Club, like many other golf clubs
has been hit hard by the reducing number
of golfing members. This came to a head in
2012 when a compulsory levy was imposed
on all members to keep the doors open. The
Board at the time scrutinised every area of
operation to look for efficiencies and savings.
It was at this time a formal volunteer program
was implemented with members of the club
generously giving up their time to assist with
labour requirements both on the course and
in the bar. The program is still in operation
today and without the selfless efforts of these
people, Ashgrove Golf Club would not be in
existence.

Ashgrove Golf Club is located just 8kms from
the city heart and is nestled in the picturesque
Taylor Range. The course is situated on just 30
hectares of land, some of which is unsuitable

for golf holes due to its undulating nature. Due
to the relatively small parcel of land, the course
is a par 67 comprising 7 par 3’s, 9 par 4’s and
2 par 5’s. With the knowledge that the golf
course is never going to be of championship
length, the clubs vision is to become the best
‘boutique’ golf course in Brisbane.
