CAPTAIN’S REPORT APRIL 2018
BY SCOTT WAGSTAFF
W
edition for 2018 and
I am particularly
excited about our schedule
this year. It’s been a great
start to the year albeit some
average weather. We have
been fortunate enough to visit
two great facilities in Maroochy
River and The Pines at
Sanctuary Cove already. Both
both facilities were fantastic
hosts and did their absolute
best to ensure we had a great
day. Thanks to GM’s Charlie
McGill and Paul Sanders for all
their help.
Our membership continues
to grow steadily which is
really exciting and hopefully
a sign we are doing some
good things. The mixture of
education and networking is
always our focus and I have
events. Welcome to those who
have just become involved with
GMAQ.
OPENING EVENT –
MAROOCHY RIVER
the beautiful and only 2 1/12
years old facility at Maroochy
River hosted by GM Charlie
McGill. The group was able to
enjoy the outstanding facilities
as well as the Graham Marsh
designed golf course.
The day began with a
presentation on getting
Partner Club Super. A
presentation that was well
received and delivered by
Brenda Gormley.
The group then heard from
brand new GMA National
provided an insight into the
model for the organisation, a
concept that was well received
by the Queensland members
and has the support of the
GMAQ Executive.
Jim noted that no model had
yet been formed but after his
initial few months, this would
be developed and he would
then seek feedback from the
various States and members
to ensure that the proposed
model is something that will
work and will be better than
what we currently have.
After the presentations the
members enjoyed lunch and
then headed out onto the golf
course to enjoy the relatively
new, yet impressive, course.
It was noted that the club had
experienced 200mm rain over
the previous week, however,
apart from carts on paths and
a couple of damp areas the
course presented beautifully
and showed the incredible
drainage on the site.
Winning the Four-Ball
Multiplier for the day was
Gavin Lawrence (Keperra) and
brand new member Jason
Bradley (Wynnum). Max Mason
played well in the individual
event (in conjunction) to win
with 41 points.
