Club Profile: Ipswich Golf Club What plans do you have for the future and what do you expect these plans to bring to the club? What do you see as your biggest challenge as a club in the coming years? Over the next three to five years club would like to redevelop its existing clubhouse to a more Modern facility to accommodate the needs of golfers , patrons and families, plans are already in place. Like most clubs long term viability and aging membership our average age of our membership is now approaching 60 ,the club is working on attracting younger families to the club and growing its junior program so that we see new members coming into the club. It is also planned to continually improve on the WAYNE Grady designed golf course by adding in more pathways around the course to allow golfers better access and make it more weather proof during the wet season. It is also the club’s vision to become one of the best golf courses in Queensland over the coming five years. Any major works being planned for the club? The club has future plans for redevelopment of clubhouse and improvements to the golf course given the current economic situation and depending on how the club trades over the coming years will determine if these plans come to light , the Board and Management are committed to responsible running of the club and are currently putting strategies in place given the current economic conditions Also we need to be keeping up with trends and what competitors are doing by providing better services , better experiences and better facilities for our members. Clearly the economic situation is a major concern and also the continual changes to the industry and the compliance of keeping your venue open and allowing the Manager to grow the business Major coming event: GMAQ Invitation Golf Day + Ipswich Golf Club Schweppes Proam Thursday September 27th 2012 purse looking at $20K. golf management australia QLD aUGUST 2012 11
