What significant event has shaped the clubs direction over
the past 10 years? How did this impact your club?
Largest significant event clearly would have been the
redevelopment of a new 18 hole Wayne Grady designed Golf
Course which was completed in 2009 and selling the old
golf course for the redevelopment of some 4000 residential
homes.

This also allowed the club to refurbish its existing clubhouse
and allow for stage one to be completed. Clearly also the
2011 floods severely affected the golf club like so many other
golf clubs in Qld , 17 of 18 holes were under water and the
clubhouse served as an emergency evacuation centre for
some 200 people displaced in the floods. This also severely
affected the club’s finances and put a large strain on finances
to get the course playable again for the members.
The club however did receive some funding from Golf
Australia and State Government.
Tell us what makes your club special?
The members are the heart and soul of the club and take
great pride in being from Ipswich and are proud of their club.
They also pull together and volunteer themselves to projects
that are required around the club every year.
