In other cases, traditional and nontraditional security issues became intertwined. After the demise of Cold War, traditional issues of security steadily lose their significance and on the other hand nontraditional security issues gained prominence. Among the nontraditional issues that exist within the nonmilitary sphere are the issues of environmental security, energy security, food security, water security, poverty, terrorism, transnational crimes and health. These extended areas of security fall within the sphere of societal security. The issue of societal security was not considered as a distinct branch of security. But after the publication of Barry Buzanā€˜s book People, States and Fear: An agenda for international security studies in the post-Cold War 27 It is imperative for every state in the world to consider the issue of its national security with utmost importance. Since the Cold War era security of the state primarily by military means has traveled a long way to consider othe
