Sideline Etiquette; What is Kosh?

Sideline etiquette is an issue that is proving to have more and more relevance in today’s game. Often the comments and shouting episodes of parents and supporters from the sideline can have an impact on whether a player moves forward with their chosen sport. Judging by the positive or negative experiences at a young age, we may keep or lose a prospect to a rival code or another sport entirely.

But what is Sideline etiquette?

Sideline etiquette varies around the world; there is no universal code stating how to act on the sideline of a rugby game, let alone any sporting game for that matter. It is completely at the discretion of the bystander; there is no law determining what you can and cannot say. That being said, common sense, sportsmanship and positive reinforcement would be at the forefront of any policy if one were to be introduced. In this article we are going to look at 3 ways to implement positive sideline etiquette for the greater good of our game.
