The threats of North Korea’s leader with nuclear weapons. Kim Jong-Un has put the world on the edge of its seats by testing their nuclear weapons again. The U.N. decided to place additional sanctions against North Korea to try and further weaken the economy and hopefully cut off majority of their aid for their nuclear facilities. North Korea has defied the world by testing a nuke that was the 5th largest bomb in the nation’s history. Nuclear weapons are no joke and that should be common sense, one bomb dropped could desolate a city and kill hundreds of thousands of innocent lives. As of right now North Korea’s technology has not advanced enough for their missiles to reach the United States. In addition, the American president Donald Trump is not helping very much either. Trump has said many provocative things such as “North Korea won’t be around much longer” also “Rocket man is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime” (Business Insider, Berke.) Despite these statements, military action is not what Trump wants. He has been persuading China into cutting all ties with North Korea who of which is one of their biggest financial supporters. The world sees and knows North Korea is a threat. Countries need to come together to eradicate nuclear weapons. What does the world do if North Korea reaches the capability to attack?

According to many reports and statements from the President we are prepared. Homeland missile defense is one of the United States top priorities. As of right now, the U.S. has a policy called the National Defense Act, which states “to deploy as soon as is technologically possible an effective National Missile Defense system capable of defending the territory of the United States against limited ballistic missile attack” (National Missile Defense Act 1999). Another missile defense system is the GMD (Ground-based Midcourse Defense), this system receives Intel from UAV’s (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and calculates the trajectory of an incoming attack and is able to defend long-range missiles. So the United States is essentially ready for an attack and is most likely able to defend with their allies Japan and South Korea.

In conclusion, North Korea poses a threat and needs to be taken seriously. Another world war is very possible, and the U.N. should be shutting down North Korea as soon as possible. The United States is able to defend and use military action if necessary, so don’t be too worried. Global War is not on anybody’s agenda. Hopefully the United Nations will realize this and do what is necessary to prevent any action.
