Purpose Test protocol - Endurance - Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery To test: cardiovascular endurance (VO2 Max), aerobic capacity. Procedure • Athletes will tag on using their RFID band and stand along the start line. • The athlete will start with the front foot toe just touching the starting line, heel up on the back foot, body mass over the front foot and shoulders and hips square in a crouched ready position. • The start gate will turn blue to indicate that the test will begin in 3 seconds. • When the half way point gate turns green, the athletes must run to the halfway line at 20m. • No forward movement may occur prior to the half way point gate turning green indicating the beginning of the run level. In the event of an athlete making forward movement prior to the half way point gate turning green a verbal warning will be given to the athlete. • The half way point gate will flash all colours to signal that the athlete should have arrived and be starting the return run back to the start line. • In the event of an athlete arriving at the half way line within the flash of the gate however not clearly crossing the half way line with their foot a verbal warning will be given to the athlete. • The start gate will flash all colours to signal that the athlete must have gone over the start line. • There will be a short resting period of 10 seconds before the start gate turns blue to signify a 3 second warning before the start of the second run. • When the half way point gate turns green, the athletes must run to the halfway line at 20m. • Athletes should continue to follow the indicators on the gates as above for each level. • The timing of each run/level is preset and each run will get quicker. • If the athlete does not make it back to the start line prior to the gates flashing, they are deemed to have finished the test and the level prior to the drop out run is recorded as their score. • The athlete must tag off immediately when they are finished. • The athlete will only run this test once. • An athlete will receive only one verbal warning with any subsequent verbal warnings deeming the test complete and the athlete must tag off immediately. The score will be recorded as one level prior to the level currently being run. Data Analysis Total test level achieved is recorded.
