At that time, Michael was a young, single, fairly new believer. The Bettingers had the privilege of getting to know him and serving with him at a number of Chungtai English Ministries’ English camps. He became a dear friend. Later, as the Bettingers transitioned to ministry in partnership with the Taichung Holiness Church, Michael began working more closely with them in the Sunday Night Alive weekly outreach meeting. Around that time, Anna Peng, a college student, started attending an English class that Marla taught. At that point, Anna was not yet a believer. But her interest in Jesus started to grow, and she began attending a weekly Bible study in Don and Marla’s home. One night, after Bible study, she prayed with a coworker to receive Christ as her Savior. Later, Don baptized her. Eventually, she began to attend Sunday Night Alive, where she and Michael met and fell in love. After a few weeks of courtship, Michael proposed to Anna. Over the years, the couples have stayed in close fellowship with one another and have had many opportunities to minister together. In January 2020, on the first day of the Chinese New Year, Don baptized each of Michael and Anna’s four children in the San Jan River in eastern Taiwan. Praise God that Michael and Anna, who are both first generation believers, continue to faithfully live out their faith and are passing it on to the next generation. 5
