Music in the 1930's was mainly swing music, and had a happy rhythm to it. In the first half of the 1900's Jazz music was very popular but swing music gradually replaced it. Swing music was written in 4/4 but it is also called Medium Swing meaning the tempo was of medium pace.

The dance consists of a lot of swinging the female over her partners shoulder and occasionly, the male over the female. It is a dance with quite complex foot work and takes many years to perfect. There are still Swing competitions! The 1930s music was a happy kind, and great for on the weekends! We are going to count down the top 10 songs from
