W
e have some exciting news . This is the last issue of Gilroy Today . Don ’ t panic ! In its place will be a new , bigger magazine , Gilroy & Morgan Hill Today . That ’ s right . We are combining the two magazines and will be publishing the new one every other month and distributing J . Chris Mickartz twice the current amount each issue in both communities as well as San Martin . There will be individual sections for each community . It is our hope that this will give both communities an opportunity to get to know the other on a personal level and give our advertisers more exposure . The new Gilroy & Morgan Hill Today will premier March 1st and will be everywhere you do business . We trust you will enjoy the new format as much , and hopefully even more , than you have Gilroy Today . We will always include the wonderful things and interesting people that make each community special .
In addition to our new format , we have developed a partnership with CMAP ( Community Media Access Partnership ) and will offer our advertisers a 60 second video that will be featured on the public access TV stations here in Gilroy and on our website / blog as well as provide copies to show on their website and , if they desire , upload to YouTube . You can view our video on our website at gilroytoday . com . Be sure to visit our new website / blog and let us know what you would like to see in future issues of the magazine . We welcome your comments and hope you find our site interactive , informative , and fun .
It is such a pleasure to have the opportunity to feature Don Christopher is this issue of Gilroy Today . I ’ ve had the pleasure of knowing Don since 1979 and have seen firsthand his immense generosity . In researching for this article , I was overwhelmed by all the things the Christopher family has contributed to our community . I feel I have merely touched the surface . We all see the big things that Don and Karen Christopher contribute to the community but there are so many small acts that we don ’ t see . There is no way we could capture all the amazing things that have been accomplished through the years as a result of Don ’ s involvement in the community . I just hope that our effort in some small way says “ thank you ” and helps our readers , you , get an idea of how much of a difference he , and his family have made in our community .
In keeping with the giving and making a difference vein , we wanted to give some attention to the Salvation Army ( page 40 ) as well as Hope Services ( page 70 ), who provide food and other services for our disadvantaged citizens . Remember them in this season of giving .
