So instead of always dragging a buddy with you start going to various events solo. Step out of your comfort zone a bit and use your natural strengths. Refer to Tip #1.

Tip #5- Ask questions and follow up

As you begin talking to new people, ask questions so that your connection can talk about themselves, this will allow you to learn more and ask follow-up and additional probing questions! Most people love to talk about themselves and the things that are important to them.

This is your key opportunity to learn as much as you can about the person you want to connect with.

As you begin to ask great questions and share contact information be sure to follow up! Usually a ‘nice to meet you and thank you for sharing your time’ type email or personal note is appropriate. Then follow up with additional emails or calls to stay on your contact’s radar! Before you know it, you’ll be having lunch or dinner and gaining new business in no time!
