Fear
Emma Guy, 12
Fear, it can freeze the greatest of minds, change the best of people and make even the
strongest man tell his deepest secret.
My heart was pounding and my chest tight. I couldn’t breathe. I was too afraid. The
shadow was looming abo ve me and a soft, slow voice whispering, “come, follow me to your
death.” Then suddenly, I hear a scream. The unmistakable voice of my sister…
It had been 3 years since I’d lost Jenny, yet every night I have the same flashback of the
day she died. I don’t expect you to believe what I am about to tell you. They didn’t either,
the social services, they just thought I’d been driven mad by the ‘accident’ but I promise.
It’s all true.
It was one Saturday evening in November three years ago and a strong gale was blowing. I
couldn’t bear to go out into the cold but I’d promised Jenny and so I had no choice. It was
dark and stormy but it had been like that for the past few days and yet for some strange
reason I felt uncomfortable and anxious, like I knew something bad was going to happen.
When we arrived back at the house no one was in mum was long gone and dad would be at
the pub.
Then, later that night I heard the door opening and a whispering voice. To my horror saw
Jenny being dragged out the door. How was I going to get her back?
