PAGE 2 GGEW NEWS SUMMER 2012 Trefoil Jubilee party at Chigwell Row t may have been a wet stormy day but in true Guiding spirit rain did not stop play when the eleven Essex West Trefoil Guilds, celebrated the Queens Diamond Jubilee at Chigwell Row camp site. Craft, giant versions of Jenga, Connect Four and Dominoes had to be enjoyed under cover. But storms had to be dodged to take part in the Orienteering treasure hunt, Archery and the 110 foot Zip wire! A great bring and share lunch was enjoyed and later in the afternoon a beautiful Union flag cake was cut. A toast to the Queen was given and the day ended with the Guilds being entertained by a Pearly King and Queen tribute, leading them in a Jubilee sing a long , finishing with Knees up Mother Brown. I Congratulations to the new Mrs Collins after Sarah Low married Paul Collins at The Mulberry House Ongar in May. Sarah is a Brownie Leader in Thurrock West and Hornchurch plus being a vital part of the County’s Growing Guiding team. GGEW NEWS SUMMER 2012 he 7th Brentwood Rainbows completed a range of activities to achieve their diamond jubilee badge. They made their own flotilla of boats and river, buried a time capsule in the cathedral garden, learned facts about the Queen and the national anthem and had a 60s themed game night. To complete their challenge they had to have a joint meeting with part of the scouting group. We joined 3rd Brentwood Beavers at Thriftwood for activities to mark the anniversary of the 1st of Mount Everest. We had a great time, climbing and trekking, and were rewarded with their badge at the end.
