The girls “visited” Australia, France, Spain, China and Ireland enjoying craft and activities from those countries. The afternoon ended with singing and refreshments before promises were renewed by all groups. A very enjoyable day. F B The Falke Glider has an engine to launch it but once the engine is cut it behaves like a conventional glider. The girls went up one by one with the instructor, once the engine was cut and instruction given, then the girls were given the controls. What an experience, it was so quiet and peaceful and no one wanted to come back down to earth! n 15th/16th March 2013, Girlguiding Waltham Abbey & Upshire , 3- WA Brownie packs,Upshire Brownie pack and WA & Upshire Senior Section, all wowed the audiences with”Wanabe”, Thriller, and My Fair Lady numbers & Upshire Brownies sang Crazy Moose, the SS performed their own version of Jack & the Beanstalk. Sue Copsey, a Brownie Leader sang “Any Dream Will Do”, with accompaniment from some of the younger units members. Other items being performed by Beavers, Cubs, Scouts & Explorers with a final number of synchronised swimming by the Scout Leaders. All units joined in the opening “All in this Together” and closing “Riding along on the Crest of a Wave” numbers. All who participated thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and are looking forward to the n ext Gang Show, watch this space. We would all like to congratulate Brownie Leader Sally Page who acted as Director, choreographer and chief bottle washer throughout the rehearsals and performances. Well Done Sally, and indeed to all the leaders and young performers. O y Brownies, 5th Gidea Park, went to Dagenham Police Station recently. Unfortunately they let them out of the cells and handcuffs! The girls have done their own reports of the visit (included on this page). The visit was arranged by one of our mums. The things they did there were; Had a ‘spoof briefing’, learnt the various levels of command, visited Front Desk (except for the group that had the upset man!), went in a police van and car, tried the walky-talky, sounded the siren, breathalysed a willing (adult) volunteer, had their fingerprints taken, had their footprints taken (BigFoot), went in the custody suite to see what happens when someone gets taken in, went in the interview room and a cell, took each others DNA, tried on a variety of uniforms & handcuffs and dressed one of the guides up in combat gear. Sarah Baggott M bers to celebrate Thinking Day 2013 together at the rownies in Chadwell were determined to bring a little colour into the lives of library visitors in their town. The girls spent a whole Saturday decorating the windows of the library with spring flowers and scenes. After hours of working and being their own version of Mother Nature, the girls were taken off to enjoy a fish and chip lunch.
