Our New
Identity
veryone by now must be familiar with
the new identity and logo launched
recently by Girlguiding UK.
The new logo is popping everywhere and
you will see that there are four versions, each
used depending where on the page the logo is
used, ie top left, top right, bottom left and
bottom right of a document so the point of the
logo always points towards the centre of the
document.
Each section has their own version all with the same variations and a sample of each is shown below.
When used by a District or Division the wording will be, eg Grays East District, or Harlow Division and each unit would use
their name to create their own Unit logo.
To create a logo you must access the On-Line Print Centre on the Girlguiding UK website and you will need to register the
first time you use t he site, but sebsequent visits should allow access automatically. The Print Centre is where all manner of
items can be ordered, some of which must be paid for, but the logo generator is free and dowloadable once you have created
your logo. It may sound complicated but you will soon find it’s very easy and user friendly - the IT boffins at Girlguiding UK
have worked hard to make it easy for us, and there is a very useful user guide available to download and print.
The old logo will still be seen on some items, but these will be replaced as stocks are renewed so as not to cause
unneccessary waste.

Trefoil AGM - Sophie tells about her travels
hen the Essex Trefoild Guild members held their AGM
in Harlow recently, they had a special treat when
Ongar Senior Section member Sophie Gardner came
to talk about her recent trip to Peru.
Sophie travelled to the South American country as part of a
Girlguiding UK trip to work with local charities. She showed the
Trefoil members slides of her visit and entertained with stories
about her wonderful experiences.

1st Warley Guides attend dedication of new Anglia Standard at Ely Cathedral
n Saturday 2nd February we were lucky enough to attend the Dedication of the new
Anglia Region Standard at Ely Cathedral. The ceremony was led by an old friend of
1st Warley Guides, Anglia Faith advisor, The
Reverend Jan Mackenzie and attended by the Chief
Guide, Mrs Gill Slocombe and representatives of all 12
counties in the Anglia Region.
It was amazing to be present at such an historic
event and meet so many people who had been to the
dedication of the first Anglia Standard 30 years ago!
It was a very special occasion for one of our Guides
too: Alice Keely made her Promise as a Guide for the
first time in front of the Essex West County Standard,
surrounded by all the other County Standards, right at the front of Ely Cathedral. Definitely an
occasion to remember!
Throughout this term we have welcomed a variety of visitors to our meetings. An instructor
from a local Karate Club taught us some self-defence, David Frankton took us through our First Aid Badges and Trainer Linda
Harris did a Meeting on a Biscuit! Guides are well known for liking anything to do with food so this was very popular. We
played a variety of board games with biscuit themes – Iced Gems as counters for ludo, Jenga with pink wafers, dominos with
custard creams and pick-up-sticks with chocolate Mikado sticks. The meeting ended with designing, making and, of course,
eating our own fantastic biscuit creations! Penny Walker
