Getting Over A Broken Heart July 2022 | Page 22

The Bible says, “We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:19) That means God designed us to love by loving us first, for He is love Himself, and we are made in His image.

In fact, God’s greatest instruction to us is to love: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-39).

God knows how much we all need to love and to be loved.

The Bible does not promise love will go perfectly, but God does promise He will never leave us or forsake us when we face heartbreak. To the contrary: “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)

If you are hurting, there is a solution to your suffering.

God says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.” (Jeremiah 31:3) When you know you are loved no matter what, you can find the strength to face the rejection or heartache of losing a relationship. So go ahead. Tell God everything you feel about your broken heart. He will listen, and you are not alone.
