15 Seconds with Qua Cox
By Wilson Tarpeh Jr.
In an era where football is dominated by the art of the pass, good defensive backs are a luxury. Jackson State University was fortunate enough to have had a very good DB over the course of the past four years. After red shirting his freshman year, Cox hit the ground running in 2010 by playing in 11 games while starting nine of them. Many games and many plays later Cox entered the 2013 season (his senior season) on the Sports Network Buchanan Award, All American Preseason, and CFPA Award Watch Lists. Outstanding play in the 2012 season is just one of the reasons he was considered of the best players in the SWAC, Cox didn’t let it go to his head as he took care of business whenever opposing offenses targeted him. As you can see from his this season’s stats, opposing QB’s didn’t venture to his side of the field very often. Cox truly lived up to being a “shut down corner” over the course of his career, below are his career stats at Jackson State as well as his highlight tape. We’ll be interviewing him closer to the draft, so check back!
Career Stats:
2010: 29 Tackles, 2 Interceptions, 7 Pass Broken Up
