The Georgetown Hoyas have one of the nations best recruiting classes coming in next year. The class includes Tre Campbell, Isaac Copeland, L.J Peak, and Paul White. Earlier today, two of those four players have been nominated for the McDonald’s All-American game April 2nd at United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
L.J Peak attends Gaffney High school in Gaffney, South Carolina and Paul White attends Whitney Young High School in Chicago, Illinois. They are among 1,000 boys and girls potentially to be selected to the 24 player roster. Players were nominated by high school coaches, principals, Athletic Directors, and members of McDonald’s All-American comittee
Paul White has been huge for Whitney Young this season, truly playing a big role in their early season success. He has stepped up in every nationally ranked game they’ve played thus far. When the Dolphins played Apple Valley, White finished the game with 17 points and did many other things to contribute to the team win. White has been leading his team and will be a key contributor next year for the Hoyas. In another game on ESPN2, Whitney Young went against Prime Time Prep, White had a huge performance for the Dolphins. He finished the game with 29 points, 9 assists, and 5 rebounds. The Hoyas signee was impressive on both sides of floor and contributed a lot. White also played great defense against Emmaunel Mudiay. Routinely forcing Mudiay into taking difficult shots.
L.J Peak was also nominated. Peak started the season on fire as he’s currently averaging 30 points per game. Formerly a teammate of White, Peak transferred back to his local high school in Gaffney. They’ve played 11 games this season and have a 10-1 record. During a conversation with Peak, he shared his feelings on his nomination. “It’s an honor to be apart of something this big being from a little state.” When Peak gets to Georgetown, he brings athleticism and a knack for highlight reel plays. More importantly, the kid can really shoot the basketball! In the EYBL regular season, Peak shot 60.7 percent from behind the arc.
The Hoyas will be in good shape for the next few years with these young men on the way. This recruiting class includes good players that will have a positive impact on the team, especially if they can contribute early on. The signees already have a good off the court relationship, which should only enhance their relationship on the court.
