Why ?
The building had not received proper building consent, the building obtained a permit for only a five-story building from the local municipality. The building was, however, illegally extended by a further three stories to a total of eight. This shows that the building owner did not care about the health of the factory workers and is now responsible for so many deaths.
Who ?
The building owner Sohel Rana allegedly told the media on the same day that the building fell that the cracks were nothing serious. Later on the building collapsed and loads of people were hurt or dead. This is all due to Sohel Rana’s selfish, greedy ways. He also told his workers that if they did not come in (because of the cracks and fear of the building falling) they will get their pay cut or they will loose their jobs.
Where ?
The Rana Plaza building is in Savar Upazila of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The building contained clothing factories, a bank, apartments and shops. The shops and banks immdeiatly closed after knowing that there was cracks in the buidling, however the factory works had to continue to work.
