Outlet Stores

An outlet store is a retail store that sells items at a discounted price. These items are usually irregular, are outdated (so last season!), or are part of an over-produced batch (sometimes too much is definitely enough).

Unlike a discount store, these products are sold directly from the manufacturer to the consumer. Brands like Topshop and New look have outlet stores and they are often situation in out-of-town locations (you wouldn’t find a Topshop outlet in Oxford Circus).

Boutiques

Boutiques are usually independent stores which sell a specific range of goods and/or services. They are generally small stores and they usually focus on selling unique and individual products. They do not sell a mass number of products unlike a high-street retailer. An example of a boutique would be a small store on a high street in a town which is owned by a self-employed fashion designer. Boutiques can also be found in shopping malls (although it is not too common) and aren’t usually found in out-of-town retail complexes.
