Overall I have found this assignment very challenging, although I have enjoyed it, it has not been easy. I have struggled with my juggling all of my different work from different lessons and faced some problems with my work. However, I have had positives and completed all of my work on time without getting too stressed.
One thing I struggled with is Joomag, I did not start playing with this software in the first weeks of the assignment like I was told to by my tutors. So, when I eventually did try to start using Joomag and found that it did not work on my computer at home it was a big problem for me. Thankfully I was able to purchase a laptop, which I had been planning to do for college anyway. When I finally was able to use Joomag at home it did take some getting used to, it helped having other people around me using the same software so we could all help each other when we were unsure how to do something.
Another thing I have found difficult was balancing my workload. For the first half of the assignment I focused very much on my sketchbook because I found it took a long time to get everything into my sketchbook. This meant that it got to November and my Joomag remained empty, although I had all the information for my Joomag, none of it was in there yet. If I was to do this assignment again I would definitely ensure that I was adding information into my Joomag as I learnt it, even if that meant not having so much in my sketchbook. However, I am proud of what I have achieved with my sketchbook and I really feel like I have learnt so much about fashion over the decades, especially at times during class when Omolara has asked people random questions about different decades and they were unable to answer but knew what I would say straight away.
One problem I faced was that the vlog I done for supply chain got deleted off the person’s phone who videoed it. Unfortunately, we had no other copies of the videos we took and this meant that we had to re-do them. We could not find the same garment and had to choose a new one. If I was to do this project again I would definitely ensure I have copies of everything I do. As this was a group task we could have all had a copy and this is something I regret not doing.
One thing I feel I have done well with during this assignment is staying positive. There have definitely been times when I have felt really stressed but I haven’t let it affect me. I have never been good at dealing with stress and get stressed very easily, I have had many meltdowns about school work over the years. However even with the large amount of work I have had and at times when I realised that I should’ve handled my time more efficiently I didn’t let the stress get on top of me. That is one way I have developed during my time at the academy and this assignment has shown me that.
I definitely improved how I managed my time nearer the end of the assignment. I was setting my SMART targets and completing all of them within the time frame. I did not always manage my time effectively but as I got to the end of the assignment I really worked hard to use my time wisely and ensure I got all the work finished.
Overall I have definitely had more problems than I have successes over this assignment. If I was to do it again I would plan my time much more efficiently and I will remember this during my next assignment so I do not make the same mistakes. However, although I may not have started using Joomag as early as I should of once I got going I know I really tried my hardest and dedicated all of spare time to ensuring I got the work done and in the last few weeks of the assignment I proved to myself I could use my time efficiently and meet the targets I set myself.
