Melanin and Uneven Skin Pigmentation
In normal cases, the skin should be equally colored on all surfaces.
Yet, due to many factors, uneven skin pigmentation may appear on
small or large portions of the skin. There are two types of factors
which may trigger the appearance of uneven skin pigmentation:
External factors affect the layers of the skin from the outside.
This category includes excessive exposure to sun, blemishes,
pimples, scars, allergies, chemical substances or rashes.
Internal factors affect the skin color from inside the body. The
main internal factors causing uneven pigmentation are
hormonal imbalances. Some brown spots caused by sunburns
were wrongly assumed to be caused by the liver, but this type
of skin problem is no longer connected with liver dysfunctions.
By far the most important factor producing uneven pigmentation is
