This particular topic was one that I find very interesting. As a former substitute teacher I seldom
utilize the technology available within the school.
However, from time to time I
would prepare PowerPoints for my
students without actively engaging
them in the lesson. After
completion of this topic, I now
understand how to create an
exciting and captivating PowerPoint that would not only display notes for students but more
importantly, ensure that they interact with the PowerPoint. I learnt how to create appropriate
power slides with the proper size, choosing the right font and background colour to enhance the
effect of each slide. Additionally, I learnt how to animate and transition each slides within the
PowerPoint. Furthermore, I learnt how shortcuts to begin, pause and end the PowerPoint, I also
learnt how to set time limits for each slides and to start slides automatically after a set time
period. In my future classes I hope to be able to utilize this element to stimulate students’ interest
and participation in all my classes especially History, a subject which students find very boring
and irrelevant to moderns society.
