Summer Engagement Produces Stronger Criminal Justice Collaboration
Georgia Parole Review Summer 2026
Public safety for Georgia demands the collaboration of all stakeholders including law enforcement agencies and the public.
One of those engagements is with the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP).
The Georgia Parole Board has partnered with the GACP to electronically request offender information from police departments across the state. Responses are routed to the Board's Regional Investigative Coordinators, who ensure the information is incorporated into the official case file.
Barnett says, "local law enforcement agencies often have valuable insight into justice-involved individuals from their communities. Incorporating this information helps ensure the Board has the fullest picture possible when making decisions."
Georgia Parole leadership also attended the Georgia Sheriffs' Association summer meetings, the Georgia Gang Investigators Association conference, the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia summer conference, and the Council of Superior Court Judges conference.
In addition to meeting with offenders and offender families, the Parole Board remains committed to engaging the representatives of parole eligible offenders. Pre-Release Considerations Division staff again presented at the Public Defender Council of Georgia. The Division also attended the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Spring Training Conference. The Board's Post Release Considerations Division attended events describing the pardon process and all divisions attended student career events.
Throughout the hot summer months of Georgia, parole staff engaged agencies, organizations, and the public to Engage, Educate, Encourage Active Participation in the Parole Process, and Enhance Operations. The Parole Board's operational 4E's guide the agency's daily processes.
