The Georgia Parole Board is committed to including victim input and ensuring crime victims receive state services.

Most recently the Board's victims' staff attended the National Organization of Victim Assistance conference in Louisiana. Board Member Jacqueline Bunn represented the Board.

“I was honored to represent the Board and support the victims services staff at the NOVA conference. The conference training was exceptional and enables staff to have the tools they need to continue delivering exceptional customer service to victims statewide. The unit’s goal is to be at the forefront of being responsive to victims’ needs and making sure their concerns are included in post conviction clemency decisions,” stated Ms. Bunn.

Parole Board Member Meg Heap and the Georgia Office of Victim Services collaborated with Brad Shealy, the District Attorney (DA) of the Southern Judicial Circuit, along with the DA's Victim-Witness Assistance Program to hold Victim Impact Sessions (VIS) in August.

"Ensuring victims' voices are heard is why we hold victim impact sessions. These meetings result in additional case information that the Board Members will consider while making parole decisions. I'm grateful to these victims for their courage to meet and provide their information to the Board," stated Ms. Heap.
