Georgia Parole Board Chairman David Herring welcomed APAI to Georgia. Herring introduced the Georgia Board Members. The opening session showcased for APAI, Georgia Parole's strong professional relationships with its partner agencies that work with offenders.
"We truly have amazing partnerships with the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC), the Georgia Department of Community Supervision
(DCS), and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ). We all work in unison to enhance public safety while providing opportunities for positive change. I want to thank them for attending the opening session and I am hopeful APAI's members could see the many benefits of strong bonds between Georgia's partnering agencies," said David Herring, Parole Board Chairman.
GDC Commissioner Tyrone Oliver, DCS Commissioner Michael Nail, and DJJ Commissioner Shawanda Reynolds-Cobb brought staff to the morning session.
The Georgia State Patrol's Honor Guard presented the colors during the opening session. Executive Director of Parole Chris Barnett acknowledged the Georgia Department of Agriculture and the Georgia Department of Economic Development for contributing to the success of the conference.
