Engaging Stakeholders

of the Parole Process

The Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles’ Pre-Release Consideration Division engages stakeholders to explain and provide the public with a clear understanding of the parole process. The "Parole 101" presentation helps strengthen collaborations with stakeholders and criminal justice agencies.

The division has delivered presentations to the Georgia Attorney General's Office and to attorneys at the Law Office of the DeKalb County Public Defender, among many others.

The presentation provides the opportunity to make sure clear and accurate information is available about parole in Georgia.

Division staff discussed the parole process in Georgia, explaining how the board's scientific, data-driven and informed decisions enhance public safety.

Pre-Release Consideration Division Director Crystal Moon said the presentation discussion includes describing the Board's role and responsibilities, and clarifying the legal framework governing parole eligibility, decision-making, and supervision.

Recent egnagement also included supporting the Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta.

All divisions and offices continue to engage Georgia youth by visiting and making presentations at schools. The Pre-Release Considerations Division continues to visit all grade levels laying the groundwork for success.

Offenders and former offenders are also stakeholders of which the Board and staff frequently engage.

The Georgia Department of Community Supervision's Day Reporting Center graduations allow the Board to support offenders who are serving their sentences in the community and who have successfully completed the program.

Parole staff also continue to attend forums to allow former offenders to learn about restoration of rights and pardon processes.
