The five-member Georgia Parole Board and staff and Department of Corrections' leadership, recently visited the Bostick Nursing Center in Milledgeville, Georgia. The center provides skilled nursing care for offenders recently released from state prison who have significant medical and or mental health needs.
The entire Board visited and toured the facility. Parole Board Chairman Terry Barnard stated, “Bostick fills a gap in services for this segment of the offender population leaving prison. It is a great public/private partnership and a needed resource for the citizens of Georgia."
Executive Director for the Parole Board, Chris Barnett, echoed Chairman Barnard’s comments.
“We are enhancing public safety by engaging all stakeholders across the state, including the Bostick administrators. This facility provides the necessary and effective care to this offender population to ensure their needs are met, while ensuring the safety and security of our communities.”
Bostick opened in 2017.

Parole staff recently engaged the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL) at the organization's spring conference at Jekyll Island.
"It's important for the Board to hear from anyone with information about an offender. It's the basis for the best parole decisions which results in enhanced public safety. We appreciate GACDL's partnership with the Board," said Chris Barnett, the Board’s Executive Director.
Information is collected on offenders from defense attorneys, prosecutors, judges, victims and the public.
