Engaging and Educating our Stakeholders and Communities
PAROLE 101
Georgia Parole Staff traveled to North Georgia to collaborate with local Police Chiefs and share insights into how the Parole Board operates as part of our mission to educate communities across Georgia. Addressing District 9 of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police in Helen, Georgia, the 'Parole 101' training outlines how the agency functions operationally. Clemency, Field Services, and Victim Services explains the Boards' operations and processes. Clemency Division Senior Hearing Examiner Jacques Brown, Field Services Division Senior District Operations Manager Joe Kuebler, and the Georgia Office of Victim Services Program Manager Christopher Toussant represented the board and provided the training to the Police Chiefs.
"We will continue to engage stakeholders, educate communities, encourage participation in the parole process and enhance our operations. Our police and local law enforcement are critical stakeholders as well as criminal justice partners of the parole board. It's important that we maintain this professional relationship with the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police," stated Chris Barnett, Executive Director of Parole.
Clemency staff also presented at the Atlanta Bar Association's quarterly meeting.
Engaging our Future Public Safety Professionals
The Parole Board participated in the University of North Georgia's (UNG) Career Day as part of our mission to engage Georgia communities. The UNG hosted a law enforcement career day welcoming agencies and organizations from across Georgia to engage students. Parole Board Vice Chair David Herring and staff provided students with information about the Parole Board explaining day-to-day operations.
"This was a special event and a tremendous turnout by our fellow state agencies, law enforcement, and organizations seeking talented applicants. The Parole Board looks forward to many other engagement and recruitment opportunities," said Herring. Students were also informed about a new internship opportunity where they will have the chance to work in all units and divisions of the Parole Board.
The State Board of Pardons and Paroles engaged and educated our communities in Columbus and Dalton.
Lt. Governor Burt Jones’ Constituent Services Days were held. Georgia parole staff were on hand to meet with citizens, explain the parole process, and the agency’s role in the criminal justice system.
The Georgia Parole Board joined other state agencies at the Columbus Public Library and at the Brooker Room at Edwards Park in Dalton last October.
