A new Sputnik Moment and the brain
President Obama in his presidential address to the nation in Congress he said how do you know that
the United States are facing a new Sputnik into the future of United States economy and an industrial
power from research and development in the areas of brain - mind neuroscience. The new enemy and
competitor are not the communist Russia but that the People's Republic of China and the that the
United States will cease the opportunity to develop rather than sticking a logical and scientific
superiority for creating new jobs and promote the economics and social development.
" We'll invest in biomedical research, information technology, and especially clean energy technology –
an investment that will strengthen our security, protect our planet, and create countless new jobs for
our people." (Obama 2011) -- Some People come to support the idea to take pictures of our brain and
the standard functions of our mind somehow with cheapen the process of actions formation and we
violate the altar of human individuality
Epilogue
If we ever create a replica of the human brain, this artifact would have the same properties and
qualities as a human? The answer seems negative, since our body is a unique entity. Also we know
that transplant of organs is leading in a co-existance of host and donor DNA in the bloodstream of
the host (Lo, Tein et al. 1998). Our AI artifacts could perform thousands of calculations much faster
than our physical brains, machines one day may withhold and store for indefinitely time larger amount
of data, live memories and knowledge.
However, our brain is using as an extended brain this new technological infrastructure may advance
the peace of human evolution. Brain plasticity and mental rehabilitation treatments mind may prove
that mind can change the brain in ways we cannot comprehend. Progress is within our genetic
predisposition will continue to endeavor the scientific development bearing in mind that every science
must perform with high morality standards towards and to contribute towards the human collective
welfare both in long and short-term.
