Is a change in NATO’s policy needed with Russia?
Western countries always run into the same mistake.
This is that V.Putin is willing to form again some kind
of an empire and do this even if it gets him alienated
to the rest of the world.
Fact is though that his policy seems like the one that
Ancient Athenians were using during their golden
alliance era. All should pay respect to higher power in
alliance and provide enough resources to them in
order to sustain and uphold vital elements of it, while
they enjoy security and protection, by this power. If
they failed to do that, they were leveled to the ground
as an emphatic example to the rest.
Similar case is valid on Russia's case. Putin seems that he wants to build a "federation" of "near
abroad" countries of former USSR but not as parts of today's Russia, but rather as "allies/suppliers" of
Russia's economy while he will be offering "protection" against outside threats like Europe's austerity
