“My work is interesting and varied
and requires me to use the whole
set of skills that Geography at Keele
helped me to acquire. From researching
to report writing and from general
knowledge of geographic concepts to
specialised GIS skills, all have been
essential to the work I do, so I’d like to
say thank you.”
As a Geography, Human Geography or
Physical Geography student at Keele
you will have the opportunity to explore
the areas of geography that interest you
most and to develop a range of skills.
These include subject-specific skills such
as the ability to work with Geographic
Information Systems and generic skills
such as the ability to work in groups, to
manage extended projects, to collect
original data and to handle complex
concepts. Geography is an intellectually
challenging subject that will stimulate you
to do your best.
Field courses
Fieldwork is an important part of our
Geography degrees at Keele. We
offer local fieldwork opportunities and
international field courses to a variety of
inspirational locations. Our field courses
draw together themes learnt in the
classroom whilst allowing students to
develop practical and transferable skills.
Results
We are very proud of our Geography
students’ results. In 2017/18 84% of our
single honours students graduated with a
2i or 1st class degree.
Careers
Geography graduates have one of the
highest rates of graduate employment,
pursuing a wide range of career paths.
As a Keele student you’ll receive career
support from the GGE Careers Tutor,
along with the central Careers and
Employability Centre. The support you
will receive ranges from online and
physical resources, a live and monitored
jobs board, and skills development to
networking at employer events.
