Friendship Station Preschool is guided by the philosophy of learning through play. In keeping with the guidelines of
Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Standards regarding early learning and literacy, our preschool program will provide
appropriate activities to enhance literacy enrichment of the young child. Our lead teachers all have a Bachelor of Arts
degrees in early childhood education or a related field, and receive ongoing training. Our new full day, 5-day a week 4-5 year
old program, is designed to meet the needs of children who have had previous preschool experience, and may not be ready
to attend Kindergarten. Please note: our classrooms are peanut safe zones.
Curriculum
3-year old curriculum: colors, shapes, fundamental concepts, introduction to letters and numbers, fine motor skills (cutting, name writing, drawing,
etc.), and basic classroom skills.
4-year old curriculum: kindergarten readiness skills: letter and number knowledge, concepts, literacy, sequencing, rhyming, problem solving, music
experiences, and fine and gross motor activities.
4/5-year old curriculum: the same elements as the 3 day program with the opportunity to further develop children’s skills in problem solving,
self-expression and sustaining longer periods of engagement.

Why Choose Friendship Station Preschool?
“When we first visited Friendship Station, we were so happy to see how
caring and compassionate the teachers are. Now, we have two children
attending Friendship Station Preschool, and we couldn’t ask for a more
nurturing environment. The school does an excellent job of balancing
playtime, creative projects and a positive learning environment.
Our children have grown both socially and emotionally since beginning the
program. The level of encouragement and dedication shown by the staff
has been above and beyond my expectations. Phoebe and Shea love seeing
the teachers greet them in the morning, and are always so excited to go to
school. We are honored to be a part of the Friendship Station family.“
