Realizes that the number of unit cubes placed in a rectangular prism with no spaces is
the volume of that object, calculating the volume of the given object by counting unit
cubes.
a) Students are given the opportunity to develop strategies to measure volume.
For example, while the unit cubes are counted, it is noted that there are escaping unit
cubes and the total number of layers.
b) Studies on the meaning of volume shall be included. It is emphasized that
the volume is where any object occupies space.

Different rectangles with a given volume measure form their prisms with unit
cubes, explaining that the volume is the product of the base area and the height.
a) The square prism and the cube are considered to be a special case of the
rectangular prism.
b) The creation of the volume relation is done with the help of models.
c) Studies to create different structures with a given volume measure and
which are not prisms are also included.
