To attract the students’ attention on the subject, they are asked questions such as
“How do people have fun today? How did people spend their time before
technological advances? What did people use to do for fun? What is our cultural
heritage? Why should we claim them? Who are Hacivat and Karagöz?”
After asking questions that will attract the attention of the students, they are told that
there are some activities (some theatrical plays such as public storytellers, Hacivat-
Karagöz plays, etc.) to entertain people during periods of technological developments
in long winter days. Afterwards, a short Karagöz-Hacivat text where the Hacivat
and Karagöz pictures prepared by the teacher is made to talk by using “motion
application”, which is one of the web 2 applications (must be front profile pictures),
is played for the students. Then, the students read the text in their own books in a
sequence similar to the voice of the teacher. Corrections are made during reading.
Based on the text they have read, students try to predict the characteristics of
traditional Turkish theater. The correct orientation of the teacher helps the students
determine the characteristics. The specified properties are written on the board as
items. Then these features are converted into a rap song or poetry format by the class
and converted into a rap song with “Autorap application”. So learning becomes fun
and lasting.
Rap songs created by other classes can be shared.
Course outcomes can be evaluated with question-answer method.
