“CATCH THE FUTURE ”ACTIVITY PLAN
A short answer test is given to the students to learn their preliminary knowledge of
the conquest of Istanbul. Students are then shown a video on the conquest of Istanbul.

Students are asked to prepare a material representing the city walls and conquest of
Istanbul as a group. (For this purpose, students are given materials such as hard
cardboard, colored cartons, glue, scissors etc.)
The results of the conquest of Istanbul in terms of Turkish and world history are
mentioned and it is emphasized that the capital was moved to Istanbul.
Learning Process
Teacher also mentions how the Europeans were affected by losing the control of trade
routes (Silk Road).
Teaching Practices in Different Disciplines
By selecting the desired ones from these applications, teachers can deepen the teaching
according to student level. Conducting analyzes of Fatih's simultaneous exploitation of
many sciences and disciplines to conquer Istanbul, the role of perseverance and
determination is addressed.
The class discusses the strategic importance of Istanbul in order to dominate the trade
routes. A brainstorming is made to consider the rapid growth of the Ottoman Empire
and the rise of the empire after the conquest.
