“CATCH THE FUTURE ”ACTIVITY PLAN School NARLIDERE SIDIKA AKDEMİR SCIENCE AND ART CENTRE Teacher Zeynep Deniz KOÇAL Class Grade 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th. Lesson Mathematics Advised Duration 120 minutes. Place for Practising Classroom, Computer Lab. Subject Mathematıcal Modeling (model of space-tıme graphıc) 1- S/he solves a problem in daily life by the way of mathematical modelling. 2- S/he reasons for resolution process. Student’s Acquisition 3- S/he measures the height of liquid in differently shaped objects comparing to the time. 4- S/he determines the results of measuring the height of liquid comparing to the time by drawing a space-time graphic. Interdisciplinary Collaboration Mathematics, Physics, Information Technology. Means Powerpoint, weebly, emaze, language of C# programing, Arduino platform. We see the different mathematical shapes when we observe water reservoirs around us. They can be like in the shapes of flat, clynder, sectional plane or tour balloon. Activities of Subject Introduction The students are expected to draw the similar samples of these reservoirs on the paper and to discuss with their friends what mathematical shapes they look like. After discussing each other, they are expected to think about how the height of the water gathered in their reservoir designs will change depending on time. The following questions are written on the board with the students: Learning Process Depending on the shape of water reservoir, how does the height of liquid in it change? How much water must be filled in to double the height? [2017-1-TR01-KA101-037764] the “Catch the Future” Project under contract number Erasmus+ is supported by the European Commission.
