The botanical definition of a berry is a fleshy fruit produced from a single ovary. Believe it or not, grapes are an example. Growing on bushes and plants, berries are conveniently picked in various berry farms around the world.

Although it varies around the world, the peak season for berry picking in North America is May to end of summer. The berry is the most common type of fleshy fruit in which the entire ovary wall ripens into an edible pericarp.

Berries have many health benefits: they provide a healthy dose of daily vitamins and minerals that are crucial for your body’s functionality. They contain a high content of antioxidants while maintaining a surprisingly low calorie count. Eating a diet rich in blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, cranberries and strawberries may help to reduce your risk of several types of cancers.
