tober . Most of the machines are vintage , with 50s , 60s and 70s models . He has had three-fourths of them refurbished and the rest remain in storage . Everett is always purchasing new machines , buying two to three new machines a week . Most of them come from private collectors , who are surprised by Everett ’ s business model . The machines in the stores are for sale and the average pinball machine runs between $ 700 and $ 800 , but the price can vary depending on condition and rarity .
Everett ’ s machines are not restored to mint condition .
“ We don ’ t like to use the word restoration in what we are doing ,” Everett said . “ We like to have defects in the machine — just the old wear and tear that they have seen in their years — but we make them mechanically sound like they were brand new and we try to fix everything as much as we can without drastically altering it , ( making ) it as new as possible .”

Game Cycle has caught the attention of buyers on the coasts . Offering prices that are half of what pinball machines cost on the coasts , Everett said he has a lot of buyers in the Los Angeles area .
Derek Adkinson has worked at Game Cycle since October . He said the pinball machines are a big attraction .
“ They are here for you to play and for everyone to enjoy ; that ’ s why they are here ,” Adkinson said .
His personal favorite machine is Triple Action .
“ I like it because you can hit the little wheel and cause it to spin around ,” he said .
Each of the machines has unique flippers , buttons and tricks .

LAWRENCE — A 20-year-old caregiver faces state charges accusing her of hitting and confining two mentally challenged men who were under her care , according to newly released court documents .
Brooke Tiara Shinn of Topeka faces felony charges in Douglas County of mistreatment of a dependent adult , aggravated battery and a misdemeanor criminal restraint charge , The Lawrence Journal- World reported Friday ( http :// j . mp / 1TbaXYE ).
A lawyer listed as representing Shinn didn ’ t immediately return a phone message Friday seeking comment . Shinn has been released on bond .
According to a recently released arrest affidavit , Shinn was one of two caregivers helping the two men in a Lawrence home in 2015 . Shinn , who cared for the men on the weekends , was employed by ResCare , which provides in-home care for the disabled .
ResCare spokeswoman Kristen Trenamen , said Shinn is no longer employed by the company , which has been cooperating with authorities .
“ We screen all potential employees to ensure they meet strict background screening requirements ,” Trenamen said in an email . “ We distribute our code of conduct to all of our employees during their first day on the job that define expectations that must be met .”
The arrest affidavit said the alleged abuses took place between Jan . 1 and Feb . 28 , 2015 , and that

police responded in June 2015 to a Kansas Department of Child and Family Services report of abuse at the home where a sister of one of the men accused Shinn of giving her brother two black eyes and shoving him to the ground .
The DCF report also “ alleged Shinn seems to think it is funny to have the two clients push each other down and sit on each other or physically harm them and to make them fight each other ,” according to the affidavit . The affidavit also said Shinn would at times lock both men in their rooms for the weekend , leaving them without food or medication .
Police said the second caregiver also told police Shinn said once she beat one of the men so badly she “ got scared and freaked out when she noticed all the blood on the kitchen floor ,” the affidavit says .
