The Flint Hills Community Health Center Board made quick work of a short agenda Tuesday afternoon at the health center .
In the new business section , the board approved the credentialing and privileging policy . CEO Phillip Davis said this was a step to better define the policy at FHCHC .
“ It ’ s not something we haven ’ t been doing previously ,” he said . “ It ’ s just that we wanted to make sure that what we ’ re doing was written down and the steps we were taking to do that . We also wanted to compare that against the PIN ( policy information notice ) and that ’ s from HRSA ( Health Resources and Services Administration ). They release those to define and tell us how we should do certain things . They let us know the guidelines so we know what requirements need to be met . This policy now meets those guidelines .”
Risk Management Director Brenda Nickel , MS , RN , presented the CQI ( Continuous Quality Improvement ) committee report .
“ Any health care organization has a group of folks in which everybody can be responsible for improving processes and information ,” she said . “ We have a specific committee that includes key members from the team and a board member . This is a required committee from our board of directors . We provide them with our financial data and our clinical data . We identify if we see something that can be improved .
“ For instance , patient satisfactory surveys showed that folks were not happy about waiting times on phones . So our front desk manager , with her team , did a CQI to identify what we could do to improve that experience for patients . So , it ’ s all about that we ’ ve identified a problem as a group and then we try to solve that problem to improve the quality of our services to improve the patient experience .”
Davis also discussed National Health Center Week which will run Aug . 8 - 11 .
“ We will be having our National Health Center Week soon ,” he said . “ That ’ s a nationwide event to show we appreciate the communities we serve . There are over 1,300 health centers in the nation . It ’ s a week set aside to do special things for the communities we serve .”
