utilize Cottonwood Falls as
a checkpoint town if it’s the
same day as the rodeo.”
A Dirty Kanza 200 registration party will be held
at 11 W. Eighth Ave. the
morning of January 9 where
those interested can join in
for breakfast and bring their
laptops to register online.
Last year, approximately 40
attended the breakfast.
“It’s open to anybody that
wants to come down,” said
Cummins. “It’s just kind of
a community building thing
we do.”

1,000 openings for the 200
mile race at a price of $140,
600 openings for the 100 mile
race for $100 and 300 for the
DK Light Fun Ride of up to
50 miles for $50.
“We’ve grown since last
year, but a very, very small
amount. It’s probably our
smallest growth that we’ve
had. We’re not at our limit,
but we’re bumping up against
it,” said Cummins.
He believes that the scenery does a great job at drawing in the crowd.
“What sets Dirty Kanza
apart from other events like
it is basically the Flint Hills.
That’s the thing that we have
that nobody can duplicate.
Riders who are not from this
region, when they get here,
they’re really taken by the
beauty of the Flint Hills.”

will be hot tea and hot chocolate available to warm up for
those who finish their run or
ride back at the Dirty Kanza
Headquarters.
All activities are dependent upon the weather.
