Middle  School  Play     This  years  middle  school  play  consisted  of  two  separate  titles  that  actually  complemented  each  other.     The  first  was  written  by  one  of  Gateway’s  graduating  seniors,  Christian  Gillespie,  titled  Dark  Comedy.   It  is  based  on  the  trials  and  tribulations  of  students  transitioning  from  being  top  grade  in  elementary   school,   then   descending   to   becoming   lowly   seventh   graders   in   middle   school   and   how   they   cope.     The  second  play,  written  by  Lindsay  Price  from  Theatrefolk  Publishing,  was  titled  Hoodie.  This  play,   also  based  on  the  middle  school  mind-‐set,  showcased  the  various  problems  caused  by  peer-‐pressure   to  students  embarking  on  the  bottom  rung  of  the  middle  school/high  school  ladder.    Following  are   some  photos  from  the  production.       Narrators,   Christine   Pellegrino   and   Helena   McBride   kept   the   audience  entertained  with  their   middle   school   skit   sensation   prior  to  show-‐time.                           Ah,  the  ever-‐present  triangle.  Both   boys  are   vying   for  the   attentions  of   one   girl.     Young   love   can   be   bittersweet   –   not   to   mention   fleeting!   (l-‐r)   Kyle   Hayes,   Greta   Colman,  Chris  Gillespie
