Department News After   a   lot   of   hard   work   and   considerable   team   effort,   Gateway’s   Consumer   Bowl   team   won   the   Southern   New   Jersey   title   for  the  Consumer  Bowl  that  is  run  through   the  Attorney  General’s  office,  Department   of   Consumer   Affairs.   The   team   will   now   go   on   to   compete   for   the   state   title,   which   will  be  held  in  Trenton  on  May  19th.  This  is   the  first  time  the  Gateway  team  has  made   it   this   far   in   the   competition.   (l-­‐r)   Mr.   Harold  Spence,  Director  Gloucester  County   Department   of   Consumer   Affairs/Weights   and   Measures;   Mercedes   Baxter,   Saige   Marchek,   Meghan   Calhoun,   Gina   Torres,   Nicolette  Taylor   and  Mrs.  Marygail  Muller,   FCCLA   teacher   and   Consumer   Bowl   Team   Advisor.   (Not   available   at   time   of   photo:     Ceiara  Harris   Sochi   wasn’t   the   only   place   to   catch   the   Olympics   this   year!   Students   in   Mr.  Harris’  6th  period  Physics  held  an   Olympics   workshop   (l-­‐r)   Chelsea   Hughes,   Robert   Benson,   Dylan   Price,   Alex   Gilman   (not   shown)   and   Mr.   Harris,   teacher)   study   the   force   of   friction   and   how   it   applies   during   a   hockey  game.  They  also  examined  the   force  of  friction  in  curling,  ski  jumping,   and  figure  skating.
